WELCOME
As the incumbent President of the Port Vila Game Fishing Club I welcome
you on behalf of our entire membership and committee to our new website.
We hope you find the information presented informative and would welcome
your feedback at any time.
The Port Vila Game Fishing club has been operating for many years. We are
a non-profit organisation and our goals are straight forward:

the betterment and advancement of
salt water game fishing in Vanuatu
-
to act in and support any person or
body concerned in the protection, Tag and Release, and conservation of
salt water fish and of sport fishing grounds
-
to accurately weigh and keep records
of fish caught on rod, reel and line, in accordance with P.V.G.F.C and
I.G.F.A rules
But
above all “to
have fun doing it”
The PVGFC is all about having fun with family and friends both from
within and outside Vanuatu. Our regular competitions attract a wide
following with anything up to 25 boats competing ranging from rubber
duckies to prestige game fishing charter vessels. Check out the years

will find that the club offers a friendly environment for people of
all ages to come together and enjoy our World renowned fishing opportunities.
Whether you are a bottom basher, fly fisherman, sport fisherman, big
game aficionado, whether you like baits or lures, or just being on
the water, Vanuatu offers a host of fishing action with many world
records having been caught in our fish rich waters. Our members are
more than happy to assist visitors to Vanuatu with any information
they require. Junior anglers are openly welcomed to our club and we
support them in all our competitions.
Our fishing rules are framed around the IGFA guidelines and our club
is affiliated with IGFA. Rules for the individual competitions will
be made available on our site as soon as they become available. A
set of AGFA rules are available for download on the site. Our competition
rules require that all participants are club members or members of
an affiliated fishing association. The PVGFC is conservation based
and we actively encourage tag and release of all billfish species.
The committee of PVGFC have worked hard to ensure that our members
have fun. Extended competitions like our Tusker Easter 6kg Challenge
have received wide support and we regularly have up to 120 people
attending our weigh-ins for a BBQ and a coldie. Why not come on over
and join in the fun?
Our major event for the year is held at the end of November. Proudly
sponsored by Tusker the event attracts anglers from throughout the
World with anything up to 80 registered anglers competing. The event
is highly regarded and the rules are structured so that everyone can
have a go. The major emphasis is on bill fishing, however all anglers
are catered for. We have consciously made our competitions non-cash
based preferring instead to offer trophies and sponsored prizes and
give-aways.
Of course a non profit club cannot operate without support from our
sponsors and we are always looking for support. You will find many
links to our supporters on this site and we encourage you to seek
out their services or products wherever possible. If you can help
or wish to get involved, please contact us.
We hope you enjoy our site and encourage you to download a membership
application form. Our membership year runs from 1st January to 31st
December annually. Our membership fees are used to actively promote
game fishing in Vanuatu to support our regular competitions.
